It’s been obvious for quite some time that local rocks fans simply do not like the Asylum, and this show did nothing to change anyone’s mind about that. I think it’s a combination of resentment of the former promoter, (he has bad people skills and is extremely disliked) and the fact that it’s simply not a pleasant place to hang out and watch a show or chat with your friends. For the most part, the Asylum only has shows with touring and/or out-of-town bands, the former usually being sparsely attended and the latter being surprisingly well attended.

Not surprisingly, our show was another disaster. Sound onstage was terrible – just absolutely awful. I can’t figure out how I can stand in front of a raging 4×12 cabinet and not be able to hear it, and yet that’s what happened. Later I was bent over the monitors trying to determine if anything was really coming out of them. The other bands made similar comments. Worst of all, the crowd was non-existant. All our regulars told us they simply did not want to go to the asylum (and considering that they knew they could see us or any of the other bands play at a different venue in the next month or two, who could blame them?)

Oddly, we have been booked for one other gig at the Asylum, this time opening for a touring band, the Brides. We’ll see how that goes.
