w/Dark Martini & The Dirty Olives and Some Techno Singer

Playing out of town shows is getting to be a financial hardship for us, with a new cd to finance and gas prices being what they are. A bright spot of this show was that my friend Rich and his wife Jen (who I had never met) flew in from TX to MA for a wedding and caught the show. Upon arrival we found out that a techno singer was going to open the show performing with a backing track. Truth be told, he was petty good – a natural performer who had obviously rehearsed his act. (Which I find is rare in these circumstances.) Dark Martini & the Dirty Olives were sort of a retro-garage group and very Boston. (The city, not the band.) They were cool to hang with, but I can’t say I caught much of their set, as I was outside getting caught up with Rich and his gal. In terms of playing our set went down fine (and the new guitar from KXK Guitars really kicked ass) but turnout was terrible. Other things went down that night that made us question how we handle certain issues. Time for a band meeting.
