w/Aepril Schaille, Dorian James & Dirge Carolers

Despite it being rather cool outside for a July evening, inside the Skybar it was decidedly hot and stuffy. Too much so to spend a lot of time watching the openers, but prior to repairing to the chinese food joint next door we caught the beginning of Dorian James and the end of Dirge Carolers, both of which had an extremely retro vibe and had the audience quite transfixed. (Dorian James and his bass player sported hair right out of a Love & Rockets video!) Our set went down well, although not quite as charged with that “we didn’t expect such a big crowd” excitement as the last time we played the Skybar. Still, it was a good night, and we got to see Aepril perform again as she “closed” the show for a few faithful club-goers, putting in a hauntingly jarring performance.
